All the boys are enrolled in a schooling system according to their individual needs, capabilities and potential – this is inclusive of mainstream, ABET and special school educational programmes.
Khayalethu has established the Strong Foundations School as from 2014 which is facilitated by a qualified teacher. This schools is designed to serve as a bridging programme, should a boy need extra help, assessment or be introduced to basics before being enrolled in a formal schooling system. Currenlty, we have boys enrolled at Happydale, the Gem project, Stephen Mazungula, Thubelihle High School, Cillié High School, Westview and Verkenner.
The following also forms part of the School programme:
- Homework class – facilitated Mondays to Thursdays by volunteers
- Extra class attendance at school
- Computer literacy
- School visits conducted by the social worker
- School meetings attended by the social worker or designated child care worker
